An invitation to worship...
Witnessing to ourselves and to others
Good Day College Church,
In less than 24 hours, God's people, the "ecclesia," the "called out ones," will be gathering once again, on the first day of the week, to witness to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The only reason for doing what we will do tomorrow is because we believe that Jesus Christ is the incarnate Son of God and is therefore worthy of our worship. Because it is so usual for so many of us, we sometimes overlook the significance of it, but "church on Sunday" is a compelling first witness to the truth of Jesus Christ.
And in our gathering to worship, God will do a work in us. We will be reminded of what is true and good and beautiful, in the reading of His word, in the hospitality and kindness of our brothers and sisters in Christ to each other, and in the praying and the singing of God's people to their Lord. In short, we ourselves will be re-oriented to truth, goodness, and beauty of our Lord.
Thus, when God's people, the "ecclesia," or "called out ones" gather to worship on the first day of the week to witness to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we're not only providing a compelling witness of Jesus Christ to others; we are witnessing to ourselves! We are providing a means of salvation for ourselves. Indeed, participation in the life of the church is not only the way God through Jesus Christ saves the world, it is the way God through Jesus Christ saves us.
It is no little thing that we do, and I am grateful for all of those who are faithfully witnessing to the truth of Jesus Christ by gathering to worship with God's people, the "called out ones."
The order of the service can be found in the attached bulletin, with the scriptures that will guide our worship. Chancel Choir will be singing, and it will be our privilege to hear the preached word of God through our very own Pastor Braxsten Cook. The attached bulletin also provides all the many ways you might participate in the life of the church throughout the week. We are also including the Bible study written by Dr. Russ Lovett for his Sunday school class.
Those who are unable to worship with us can find our service on the front page of our app or by clicking on any of the button links below.
I am looking forward to being with you, the church, the "ecclesia," the "called out ones," as we collectively witness to ourselves and to others, the truth, goodness and beauty of Jesus Christ.
See you tomorrow!
