Devotion to the fellowship

Good Day College Church,
This weekend is Olivet's Homecoming and so we will have guests who will attend College Church this Sunday who were former members and former students. They will have come from class reunions, having seen friends they haven't seen for many years, and that sense of reunion will continue into the worship service. Many have told me that they will be glad to be back at College Church.
As we will be! While we haven't been away for years, there is still that sense of glad reunion when we gather to worship, even if it has only been a week. The fellowship of the church was so essential to the life of the early church, they devoted themselves to it, as well as to the Apostles' teaching, the Lord's Supper and prayer (Acts 2:42).
And that is one of the things that people are looking for when they come to church. Most don't want to remain strangers to the congregation; most want to worship with friends. So tomorrow, let's welcome not only the ones we know, let's welcome the ones we don't. Let's let our devotion to our Lord be revealed in our devotion to the fellowship of the church.
In addition to the many visitors, it will be our privilege to welcome Orpheus Choir from Olivet to our service, under the leadership of our own Dr. Jeff Bell. The scriptures that will guide our worship are Psalm 121, 2 Timothy 3:10-4:5 and Luke 18:1-8 and I will be preaching from the gospel.
