An invitation to worship...

Going to church with a lot of people.

 October 31, 2025

Good Day College Church,

We go to church with a lot of people every Sunday.

Now, I'm not referring to only those who attend College Church. I'm not even referring to those who worship their Lord in other churches, which by the way, is a lot! It is estimated that 20% to 25% of the people who live in the U.S. attend worship every week, which is between 70 and 86 million people. But I'm not referring to only them. And I'm not even referring to those who worship our Lord from around the world. No, we worship with even more than that!

We go to church with a lot of people because it isn't only the living we worship with, we also worship with those who have passed away. When we confess that we believe in "the communion of saints" in the Apostle's Creed, what we are confessing to is that we are in communion with every follower of Jesus Christ who has ever lived. "Communion of saints" is not about the fellowship of living believers only; it is about being in spiritual communion with every believer. When we are with our Lord in worship, we are also with everyone else who is worshipping the Lord.

This Sunday is All Saints' Sunday, and that is what we will be recognizing and remembering, that when we are with the Lord, we are with everyone else who are with the Lord as well. We go to church with a lot of people every Sunday.

We will also have plenty of time to get ready to join with the "communion of saints," as we will be setting our clocks back one hour, for Central Daylight Savings Time.

I am looking forward to being with the whole church Sunday morning. I believe it is going to be a really good day.
