An invitation to worship...

We worship to witness!

Good Day College Church,

So we will gather again, on the first day of the week, to testify of the truth of Jesus Christ.

There are many reasons to come to church. We come because our Lord is worthy of worship. We come because we are spiritually hungry and we know our Lord will feed us. We come to serve. We come to learn. And we come because we just love being with the people of God. There are many reasons to come to church.

Not least among them, but not always appreciated as much, is this one:

Participating in the weekly gathering of God's people, at a particular place (200 University Ave) and at a particular time (Sunday mornings) witnesses to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives. Coming to church is a witness, a testimony of the truth of Jesus Christ. Indeed, the power of that witness is proportionate to the priority that we give to this weekly in-the-name-of-Jesus’ gathering.

If Jesus is the Christ, who was raised from the dead on the first day of the week, then His followers faithfully gathering to worship Him on that day, is a witness to the truth of that, for this simple reason: we would not do this if it were not true.

Thus, every week, God's people getting together to worship Jesus Christ as Lord is a witness to that Lordship and is one of the most important witnesses of it.

We worship to witness. We worship to testify, by simply being present!

And can I add, thank you for being a witness of the truth of Jesus Christ... to me.

This week, Olivet's Orchestra and Olivet's Concert Singers, under the direction of Dr. Neil Woodruff, will be joining us in our witness of the Lordship of Jesus Christ this week. I believe it will be a really good day.

See you Sunday!!
