Calling Us Back to Jesus
Good Day College Church,
We are in the middle of the Season of Lent, which is a time of heightened devotion to the Lord. The church in her wisdom understood that she would need to call people back to Jesus periodically, as our relationship with our Lord is never static and it is our inclination after all, to wander. The Season of Lent is designed to be a season of returning to the Lord.
To help us return, College Church is observing Lent by offering up continuous prayers from the sanctuary, from 7:30 until 5:00, Monday through Friday. Several have told me that this 20-minute time of fellowship with the Lord in the sanctuary is truly transformative. If you haven't discovered this blessing, I encourage you to discover it.
In addition to continuous prayer, College Church is calling us to a closer walk with our Lord by offering the sacrament after the reading of scriptures, both at 7:30am and at 12:30pm every day of the week. The daily ritual of hearing the public reading of scripture and receiving the bread and juice is a tangible reminder of our daily dependency on the Lord. Again, those who are participating in this particular practice are testifying as to how transformative it is, and all are welcome!
Regardless of whether or not you are able to come during the week to this particular place to worship and pray, I am hoping that the Season of Lent is a time of heightened devotion for you, that you are being more constant in prayer, more responsive to the scriptures, more faithful to Lord's Day worship, and more attentive to those in need. After all, nurturing our relationship with the Lord is just the most important thing we are to do.
And on the Third Sunday in Lent, we will witness the hospitality of our Lord in the story of Jesus and the woman at the well. It is an amazing revelation of the kindness and character of our Lord.
I hope to see you Sunday, as we return to Jesus again, and testify of the importance of the Lord to our lives.
I believe it will be a good day!
