An invitation to worship...
God's Mercy in Every Valley
Good afternoon College Church!
This has been a particularly challenging week for our community with the thunderstorm, hail, and devastating tornado that affected much of Kankakee county. We are thankful for those who have contacted the office to offer aid, and for all of the ways that our community is rallying together to help those in need. It is in times like these that we are reminded how much we need one another!
One of the reasons we gather every week is to hear the testimonies of our brothers and sisters in Christ, through the songs and scriptures. They offer us a voice for the whole range of human experience, pointing us towards Jesus. This Sunday we begin with the declaration that God is "Holy, Holy, Holy", and the reminder that even the turbulence of nature declares the mighty wonders of God. The Psalm this week, Psalm 23, offers us the promise that God's "mercy and goodness" will pursue us both in the quiet pastures and the darkest valleys. And we conclude with the call to "Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!" The hope of the resurrection life at work in us gives us the power to praise God, even in painful circumstances.
There will be Sunday School classes for all ages at 9am, and we are working to make more room for more people to participate in these fellowship and discipleship settings. We will have our Continental Breakfast between Sunday School and Sunday Worship, so that you will have even more opportunities to connect with new friends. Let's never underestimate how simple acts of hospitality can create a space for God to work.
So please join us, in person if you can, to worship together, and bring a friend along too!
