The Storms of Life

Have you ever been in a storm? I mean a real life-threatening storm. How frightening that would be, particularly if you were out on the sea with the wind and the waves tossing your boat about and water pouring over the deck.

While most of us have never actually been afraid for our life in the midst of a storm, none of us is immune to the “storms of life.” In the Bible we see that…

  • Noah faced a flood.
  • Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers.
  • Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den.
  • David faced Goliath.
  • Paul suffered shipwrecks and imprisonments.

Faith does not exempt us from storms. They come in many forms.

  • Physical illness
  • Financial hardship
  • Family conflict
  • Grief and loss
  • Disappointment
  • Uncertainty about the future

When storms come, we can rest assured that God will be with us. The message this Sunday is from the Gospel of Mark, chapter 4, verses 35-41, where Jesus asks his storm-tossed disciples the question, “Why Are You Afraid?”

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday!
