Your College Church of the Nazarene University Avenue board is committed to serving the pastor and church body alike, working in harmony to lead the work of the church. Your prayers for the church and board are always appreciated.

The board meets once each month (with occasional additional meetings, as needed) at a time and date published in the weekly bulletin and calendar; all are welcome to attend.

  • Laura Allen

    Laura works part-time for an organization that connects Illinois public schools with character-based abstinence education programs. She and her husband Daniel have three children, Kaya, Levi, and Avery. The Allens have attended College Church for two and a half years and have served in the KIDSLAND nursery and as small group leaders for Vacation Bible Party.

  • Tyler Bontrager

    Tyler is a school counselor at BBCHS and coaches girl’s soccer. He and his wife Lynnae have one daughter, Eliza, and have attended CCUA for eleven years. Tyler sings in Chancel Choir and on the Worship Team.

  • Charles Carrigan

    Secretary of the Board

    Charles is a professor in the Chemistry and Geoscience Department at ONU. He and his wife, Dana, have four daughters - Carly, Brianna, Elle, and Corinne. The Carrigans have been attending College Church for five and a half years. Charles co-leads the Faith and Life Sunday School class, has served on the church board from 2020-present, and is the current church board secretary.

  • Tony Fightmaster

    Tony Fightmaster

    Tony is a Development Officer at Olivet. He and his wife Janine have four sons, four daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren. The Fightmasters have been attending College Church for 37 years. Tony volunteered with youth events while their sons were growing up, participated in various music ministry opportunities at CCUA over the years, and served on the church board from 2016-2017 and 2023.

  • Rachel Greenawalt

    Rachel Greenawalt

    Rachel is a retired schoolteacher. She has been attending College Church since 1970 and is a member of the Here’s the Bible Sunday School class. Rachel serves on the Missions Council, Fellowship Committee and Prayer and Care Team. She sings in Chancel Choir and has done extensive travel with Work and Witness teams. Rachel has served on the church board from 2020-present.

  • Shannon Hicks

    Shannon is a third-grade teacher and has been attending College Church for ten years. She is on the KIDSLAND leadership team and often serves as a CCUA wedding coordinator. Shannon is the leader of the Fellowship Committee, volunteers on the Emergency Response Team, and has served on the church board from 2020-2021 and 2023.

  • Russ Lovett

    Russ is an affiliate professor in the School of Theology at Olivet and is a retired missionary with the Church of the Nazarene. He has two adult children and two grandchildren. Russ has attended College Church for 32 years and has participated in Work and Witness trips and sings in Chancel Choir. He is the leader of the Christian Life Builders Sunday School class. He served on the church board in 2023.

  • Kyle Olney

    Kyle Olney

    Policy Committee, Chair

    Kyle works at Olivet as the Executive Director of Campus Safety Management. He and his wife Amber have three children - Autumn, Kamden, and Kolton. They are members of the Faith & Life Sunday School class. Kyle has attended CCUA since 1997 and has served as a money counter, kindergarten/first/second grade teacher in KIDSLAND, and served on the church board from 2018-present.

  • Jeanette Martinson

    Jeanette is a professor of psychology at Olivet and is a licensed clinical professional counselor as well. She and her husband Jay and their two youngest children have attended College Church for five years. Jeanette is a co-leader of the Faith and Life Sunday School class, serves as a coffee hostess and greeter, and has been involved in the cafe ministry. She has served on the church board from 2020-present.

  • Aaron Meyer

    Aaron is an arborist with the village of Homewood. He is married to Amy, and they have three children, Logan, Gwen, and Norah. They have been attending College Church together for 23 years. Aaron volunteers each week as head usher and has served on the church board from 2021-present.

  • Don Reddick

    Don served as the head of the music program at Olivet for 26 years. He is married to Dena and they have two adult children and two grandchildren. The Reddicks have attended College Church for a little over three years. Don is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and is the co-leader for the Here’s the Bible Sunday School class. He served on the church board in 2023.

  • Amy Smith

    Amy Smith

    NMI President

    Amy is the Operations Manager at Harbor House. She is married to Scott and they have two sons, Bennett and Hudson. She has attended College Church since 2007 and is active in the Faith and Life Sunday School class. Amy volunteers in the Kidsland nursery and serves as the NMI (Nazarene Missions Council) President.

  • John Thomson

    John Thomson

    Building & Property Committee, Chair

    John is a retired high school teacher. He is married to Mary and together they have three children, one granddaughter, and one great grandson. John has attended College Church for 28 years and has served on the church board from 2015-present.
