He should have fought.
Nov 23, 2025 • Pastor Mark Quanstrom
When Jesus was crucified, everyone expected him to fight back - his disciples came armed, and even his enemies taunted him to save himself. Jesus had the power to call down 72,000 angels but chose a different path. Instead of fighting, defending himself, or seeking vindication, Jesus entrusted himself to God and continuously forgave his tormentors. This reveals how God's kingdom operates differently from worldly expectations. Peter explains that followers of Jesus are called to follow this same example when facing injustice or mistreatment. Rather than defaulting to the world's way of handling conflict, believers are called to trust God who judges rightly and choose the path of ongoing forgiveness.
