Mission & Vision

Go and make disciples of all nations...

The Mission

The mission of College Church University Avenue is to cultivate a life-changing community where Christ-like disciples are formed.

The Vision

The vision of College Church University Avenue is to be a life-changing, Christ-like community of faith. We believe that the church should change the lives of those who participate in it. We believe that the church should also be about changing the life of the community around the church.
Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age."
-Matthew 28:19-20

Life-Changing Community Strategies

Discipleship is life changing. We are called to create an environment in which we implement practices that facilitate the growth of believers in their love for God and neighbor; in their understanding of Scripture, in their understanding of the church, in their understanding of prayer, and in their understanding of our service to the world.

Our strategies for being a life-changing community come from Acts 2:42 and Ephesians 4:7a, 11-13.

  • We believe that encountering the written word is life changing.
  • Participation in the community of the church is life changing.
  • Worship is life changing.
  • Prayer is life changing
  • Serving is life changing.

Encountering the written word is life changing

We desire to be a church that emphasizes the transformative power of engagement with the Bible. Our devotion to scripture is evident in the worship services and also evident in our encouragement for all to participate in Bible studies, both in Sunday School and in Life Changing Community groups throughout the week.

Participation in the life of the church is life changing.

PARTICIPATING IN COMMUNITY is life changing

Participation in the community of the church is life changing

We desire to be a church that emphasizes the transformative power of genuine and meaningful relationships within this particular community of believers.
Our intergenerational church really comes alive at our all-church events. From ice cream socials to our concert series, we love hanging out with each other.

WORSHIP is life changing

We desire to be a place where we experience God's presence through reverential and meaningful worship and through an understanding of the significance of both baptism and the Lord's Supper, prayer, music, and Scripture.

Prayer is life changing

We desire to be a place and a people dedicated to prayer, and to create an environment in which prayer is as natural as breathing.

serving is life changing

We desire to devote ourselves to reaching out into our world by loving, caring, and serving our neighbors, both near and far, and by inviting them into this community of faith.

Serving Around the World
Nazarene Missions International (NMI) is the organization for mobilizing the local church for missions in the Church of the Nazarene. Through the NMI Council at College Church, we financially and prayerfully support missionaries around the globe and in our local community. We provide opportunities for our congregation to hear from missionaries about the work God is doing in their ministries. We provide service opportunities for them to come alongside global missions through Work & Witness trips and to participate in local ministries through serve day projects.
