Advent Time

The first Sunday of Advent marks the beginning of the Christian calendar year, not January 1st. Unlike worldly calendars that focus on human achievements and natural cycles, the Christian calendar centers on God's activity. Advent teaches us to slow down in our instant-gratification culture and wait expectantly. The prophet Isaiah envisioned a time when all nations would stream to God's temple to learn His ways. Through Jesus Christ, who is the true temple of God's presence, this vision is being fulfilled now in the already-but-not-yet reality of God's kingdom. We live in Advent time where Christ has come, is present, and will come again.
