I have compassion for these people.

Jesus fed the 5,000 and then, months later, fed the 4,000. These were two separate miracles in two very different places, and the difference matters. The first crowd was Jewish. The second was made up of Greeks and Romans in Gentile territory. In between, Jesus healed the daughter of a Canaanite woman, a historical enemy of Israel, because of her remarkable faith. Taken together, these events reveal that Jesus did not come for one people group. He came for everyone. His compassion crosses every cultural, ethnic, and national boundary, and His table is open to all.
