Remembering who Jesus is.
Aug 30, 2026 • Pastor Mark Quanstrom
Peter had one of the greatest moments of spiritual clarity in Scripture, and then almost immediately, one of the greatest failures. After confessing Jesus as the Messiah and receiving extraordinary affirmation, Peter pulled Jesus aside and rebuked Him for predicting His own suffering and death. Jesus responded by calling Peter Satan, a stumbling block who had his mind set on human concerns rather than the things of God. Peter's mistake is a warning for every believer who is tempted to follow Jesus on their own terms, reshaping Him into someone more comfortable and less costly. True discipleship means denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following the Jesus who actually is, not the one we prefer Him to be.
