The Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Sunday reveals a profound truth: God cares for His people through His people. Just as sheep learn their shepherd's voice by being with the flock, we learn to follow Jesus through Christian community. The early church devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer because faith isn't meant to be private. When sheep wander away, the shepherd searches for them. Jesus is that Good Shepherd who laid down His life to rescue us. We all need the flock, regardless of how mature our faith becomes, because that's how God tends to our souls and guides our steps.
