The disciples' greatest failure came during Jesus' arrest when they betrayed, denied, and abandoned Him completely. Yet when the risen Jesus first appeared to these hiding, fearful followers, His words were not condemnation but peace and forgiveness. Without giving them time to apologize or prove themselves worthy, Jesus immediately commissioned these same failed disciples to continue His mission. Three things qualified them: knowing Jesus was alive, knowing they were forgiven, and receiving the Holy Spirit. This same grace extends to believers today, demonstrating that God uses the unworthy and that our failures don't disqualify us from serving Him.
