Maybe this is our mountain.

Feb 15, 2026    Pastor Mark Quanstrom

Jesus consistently chose mountains for prayer and significant moments because these elevated places held special meaning as locations for divine encounters. When Jesus was transfigured on the mountain, His face shone like the sun while Moses and Elijah appeared, demonstrating the importance of sacred spaces for meeting God. While God is everywhere, He can be more present in specific places, just as Jesus was incarnate in particular locations during His earthly ministry. As embodied beings, we benefit from designated sacred spaces for prayer, whether a corner of our home or a church sanctuary. Having a consistent place for prayer helps establish faithful habits, reminds us that prayer is dialogue rather than monologue, and connects us with the broader church community.
