Being Salt and Light
Feb 8, 2026 • Pastor Mark Quanstrom
The early Christians established worship patterns that shaped Christianity for centuries. They deliberately chose Sunday worship to commemorate both creation and Christ's resurrection, despite the inconvenience and danger this posed in Roman society. Their gatherings included extensive Scripture reading, preaching, communion, singing, giving, and prayer. Beyond Sunday worship, these believers lived distinctively as salt and light in their communities through hospitality, care for the vulnerable, sexual purity, honesty, and contentment. Their devotion was driven not by convenience but by Christ's worthiness, creating a counter-cultural lifestyle that drew others to faith.
